The Investment Profile Section provides information intended to facilitate investments for existing and prospective businesses in the locality.

It defines the Investment Priority Areas of Iligan City and Lanao del Norte; Profiles of Priority Investment Areas; and existing Investment Incentive Programs for MSMEs.

• Iligan City (Abaca)

Product Description

Iligan City's OTOP ranges from the fiber to the finished products. The fiber produced is of the tangonon variety.

Product History

The economic crisis that hit the country affected so much the economy of Iligan being a major industrial center in Mindanao. With this, a shift to agricultural development as a strategy was adopted to help in the city's economic recovery. Taking into consideration the city's comparative advantage over other areas, abaca was then selected as the city's OTOP, the industry to lead the dev't and was then and is still being supported through the integrated effort of the LGU, the different government agencies, financing agencies and the private sector.

• Municipality of Bacolod ( Shellcraft)

Product Description : Shells

Product Lines : Lantern, planters and flower vase

Product History

Bacolod is blessed with abundance of shells. Taking advantage of it, the fishermen's wives turn the empty shells into decorative items and sell them to their neighbors and later on to their neighboring municipalities. This give them additional income.

• Municipality of Kolambugan (Seaweed)


Product Description

Among the municipalities of Lanao del Norte, Kolambugan is one of those very few which are able to grow seaweeds. Seaweeds of the euchema variety grow abundantly in the four barangays of Kolambugan. Euchema is being used to process carageenan, a major input in the production of various food and non-food products as binder and thickener.

Product History

The continuously declining price of copra prompted the farmers of Kolambugan to move to the coastal areas and look for other sources of livelihood for their families. It was at that time that carageenan was becoming very popular in the export market due to its various applications to both food and non-food products. The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources started giving trainings on seaweed growing and Kolambugan was one of those provided with such.

When the OTOP project was launched DTI encouraged the Municipal officials to consider Seaweed Growing to be the town's OTOP. From then on, collaboration with several government agencies and private organizations were sought in the development of the industry being the anchor of Kolambugan's economic development.

• Municipality of Maigo (Jackfruit)



Product Description : Nangka or Jackfruit production and processing

Product History

The town is well known of its sweet fresh jackfruit sold just along the National Hi-way, bus terminal. Because of this, people thought of/and tried to process it into Nangka Jam, tarts, etc.

• Municipality of Tubod (Banana)



Product History

Traditionally, various varieties of banana are grown in Tubod. It's the chief source of income next to copra. With the aid from the Spanish government at Php 20M, the municipality is embarking on a massive planting of banana. Major product is fruit. But as soon as overproduction is reached, it is envisioned that the municipality will go into processing of various banana-based products.


• Baloi (Maranao Village Tourism)

Product Description

A village expressing their cultures, livelihood, food and arts. Inside the village are physical facilities, such as turugan & centers for Maranao arts & handicrafts.

a) Maranao handicrafts such as antueras, mats and handloom woven fabrics .(b) Maranao delicacies such as dodol, thiatag, broa, amik , bakas (smoked fish)

Product History

The Maranao village came into being through the unanimous decision of the Mayor and Sangguniang Bayan to revive the culture/arts,tradition of Maranao by putting-up a village depicting their lives, culture and tradition.


• Lala (Calamansi Productionand Processing)


Product Description :

Calamansi juice and concentrate processed from fresh calamansi fruits grown in the municipality of Lala.

Product History

Provision of Calamansi Processing Plant situated in Pinuyak, Lala worth Php 1.30M by the STARCM, and the huge support by the LGU of Lala, the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte and other line agencies.

• Municipality of Matungao (Mats)

Product History

Mat weaving among the Maranaos is a tradition as old as loom weaving. This skill has been passed on from generation to generation. They weave mats out of "buri" with distinct Maranao designs & colors.


• Municipality of Pantar : Corn Production


Product Description

Corn is the primary crop production in the area. Pantar is an agricultural area endowed with fertile land suited for corn production.

Product History

Pantar's major agricultural product is corn. Its functional roles are food crops producer and supplier of high value crops.

• Municipality of Sultan Naga Dimaporo ( Cows Milk )



Product Description

Made up of cow's milk which is converted into finished products through processing and mixed with other flavors.

• Municipality of Baroy ( Ceramics )

From clay pots to ceramic wares and construction materials like roof, floor and wall tiles.

Product History

Almost all of the barangays of Baroy have clay. Forefathers of the constituents have long been making clay pots. Due to transfer of technology, they are now producing various line of products using clay as raw materials.


• Municipality of Kauswagan (Peanuts)

Product Description

Peanut Production/plantation and some are processed into different peanut delicacies like suspero de mani, peanut butter, etc.

Product History

Kauswagan is a 5th class municipality of Lanao del Norte politically subdivided into 13 barangays. Each barangays are supportive of its OTOP which is Peanut Production & processing infact all barangays were represented during the basic skills training on peanut processing which were served as their special delicacy during town's fiesta.

• Municipality of Linamon
(Coconut & Coconut Based Products )

Product Description : Coconut

Coco Products - Buko pie, virgin coco oil, coco handicrafts and coco shell buttons

Product History

With the abundance of coconut in Linamon, the local government encouraged the residents to produce products out of coconuts. Today, Linamon is also popular for their "Hudyaka sa Lubi" (Coco Festival) wherein they showcase the different coco handicrafts and buko pie.

Municipality of Munai ( Ginger Processing )

The Town’s OTOP is ginger and processed ginger like Spicy Palapa/delicacy, pickled ginger, salabat

Product History

Munai is a 5th class, hinterland municipality but with rich agricultural land good for growing ginger that's why they decided to adopt ginger as their town's OTOP

• Municipality of Poona-Piagapo ( Coconut )

Product Description : Coconut and coconut based products

• Municipality of Tagoloan ( Corn )

Product Description

Corn is the primary crop in the area. Tagoloan is an agricultural municipality with fertile soil suitable to corn, ginger and peanut production.

Product History

Corn is farmer's majority crop production in the area since time immemorial.

• Municipallity of Nunungan ( Tiyatheg )

Product Description

Tiyatheg is a mixture of finely ground rice, sugar and coconut oil.

Product Lines

Toron-type, rounded and triangular shapes tiyatheg in clear packs in various weights.

Product History

Although located in the hinterlands, twenty five (25) officers and members of OTOP SME, the NTPO or Nunungan Tiyatheg Producers Organization, led by the Town Mayor actively participated in the Micro Enterprise Development Training conducted in the City of Iligan on May by the DTI.

• Municipality of Tangkal (Banana )


Product Description
Raw material is abundant within the municipality of Tangkal and in the province of Lanao del Norte

Product History

Assistance from foreign donors(NGOs), government agencies and with the full support of LGU, the farmer-beneficiaries of ARC-Tangkal are encouraged to plant and venture business in banana production.
